ROFRONT Roundtable: 20 Years of Cross-border Cooperation

Testimonials

“The borders of history have separated families, communities, and initiatives. Cross-border cooperation demonstrates that borders can become symbolic, as evidenced by the successful projects implemented over more than 20 years of activity by ROFRONT members, on the south-eastern borders of the EU.”

Cezar GROZAVU, Executive Director BRCT Suceava

“Because humankind is neither the strongest, the most agile, nor the most venomous, it had to be the smartest and cooperate. Let’s keep it that way!”

Livia BANU, Executive Director BRCT Oradea

“Over the years, our joint projects and initiatives have consistently demonstrated that, beyond the challenges posed by territorial borders, there is a strong will to build sustainable partnerships and promote the integrated development of the border region. Our common activities have had a significant impact on improving infrastructure, mobility, and social cohesion, highlighting the importance of effective cooperation and continuous dialogue between the authorities and citizens of both states.”

Ion APOSTU, Executive Director BRCT Iași

“On the Bega Canal and its banks, where the Romanian-Serbian borders were once lines of separation, today we navigate with boats, cycle on bike paths, and the restored locks tell another story – one of living connections between people. Together we participate in cross-border sports competitions, firefighters from neighbouring countries train side-by-side, and in hospitals rehabilitated and equipped with European funding, we find our health. All of this is possible thanks to projects supported and monitored by the teams of the Regional Offices for Cross-border Cooperation, reunited in the ROFRONT network, proving that solidarity can transform borders into lasting bridges. Together we are stronger!

Anca LOLESCU, Executive Director BRCT Timișoara
