The project, with the full name “Special Education in the cross-border area Suceava – Chernivtsi: modern, inclusive and adequate to labour market”, aimed to improve the quality of education in special schools in Suceava County, Romania, and the Chernivtsi region, Ukraine, in order to facilitate the socio-professional insertion of pupils with special educational needs.

  • To modernise the educational framework and improve the competencies of teaching personnel related to the evaluation, diagnosis, and recuperation of students with special educational needs in four special schools.
  • To modernise the educational framework and improve the competencies of teaching personnel related to the professional training of students with special educational needs in four special schools.
  • To create the necessary conditions for the socio-professional adaptation and facilitate the transition of students with special educational needs from four special schools to the labour market.

    • Chernivtsi Regional Training and Rehabilitation Center “Family”, Chernivtsi region- UA.
  • 4 educational institutions rehabilitated/modernised.
  • 4 poly-sensory stimulation cabinets and 2 medical recuperation cabinets created or modernised.
  • 13 schools’ workshops and labs technologically upgraded.
  • 163 professors and specialists participated in exchanges of experience and good practices.
  • 3 sets of new standardised tests and the compulsory licenses for the evaluation/ reevaluation and diagnosis of the pupils’ disabilities.
  • 1 plan for transition of the pupils with special educational needs from graduation to the labour market and to the social life.
  • 2 institutions used programme support for cooperation in education, R&D, and innovation.

Target groups and beneficiaries: The project directly benefited approximately 160 professors of special psycho-pedagogy, psychologists, and other specialists. In the long term, 13 special education units from the cross-border area and around 1,544,805 people from Suceava County and the Chernivtsi Region will benefit from the project’s results.

The project “SpeEd-2-Labour Market” was selected as one of the six finalists for the prestigious Interreg Slam 2024-2025 competition. This recognition celebrates the project’s success in promoting social inclusion and its significant impact on improving educational opportunities for children with special educational needs across the border.
