About the project:

The “Traveller on Cultural Meridians” project focused on the conservation, consolidation, and modern endowment of significant architectural and literary heritage sites in both Romania and the Republic of Moldova. The initiative successfully revitalized two key cultural institutions: the iconic “Ion Creanga” Museum ensemble in Iasi, Romania, and the preservation of the nationally significant “Lazar Dubinovschi” History and Ethnography Museum and a historical granite pavement road in Falesti, Republic of Moldova. The project ensured these monuments, which have deep historical and symbolic value, can continue to attract tourists and educate future generations.

KEY OBJECTIVES

To conserve, consolidate, and equip the “Ion Creanga” Museum (Bojdeuca, inner courtyard, and photo-documentary museum building) in Iasi, Romania.
To protect and enhance the cultural value of the “Lazar Dubinovschi” Districtual History and Ethnography Museum in Falesti, Republic of Moldova.
To reconstruct the historical “Stefan cel Mare” access road (granite pavement) in Falesti, Republic of Moldova.

KEY RESULTS

Ion Creanga Museum (Iasi, RO): The project ensured the preservation of the Bojdeuca, the first literary memorial museum in Romania (inaugurated 1918), where the great writer Ion Creangă lived and wrote his famous stories and memoirs. The intervention covered the entire ensemble, including the contemporary exhibition building, library, and open-air amphitheater.
Falesti Museum (MD): The project successfully preserved the building that houses the “Lazar Dubinovschi” Museum (today also the “Lora Gaina” Center for Creation and Recreation), an architectural monument of national significance built in the 1930s. The intervention led to the highlighting of the museum’s valuable heritage, which includes over 12,900 exhibits (ethnography, sculpture, documents, etc.).
Historical Road (Falesti, MD): The reconstruction of the “Stefan cel Mare” granite pavement road was significant because it is the only such historical monument in the Republic of Moldova dating back nearly 80 years, preserving a crucial piece of the region’s historical and symbolic heritage.
