About the project:
This pioneering project marked the beginning of a longstanding collaboration between the Șișești Local Council (Romania) and Serbian partners. Centred on ceramic craftsmanship as a living tradition, the initiative celebrated and revitalised local heritage, facilitated cultural exchanges, and laid a strong foundation for future joint initiatives in arts, culture, and craft preservation across the border.

KEY OBJECTIVES
- Promote cultural heritage: The project aimed to revitalize and preserve the shared tradition of ceramic craftsmanship in the cross-border region of Romania and Serbia.
- Facilitate cross-border cooperation: It sought to establish a lasting partnership between the Șișești Local Council and the Majdanpek Municipality, laying the groundwork for future joint projects.
- Raise public awareness: A key goal was to increase awareness about the value of traditional crafts and the importance of cross-cultural dialogue.

KEY RESULTS
- Establishment of a Cultural Centre: “Traditional Ceramics Centre” in Șișești, which serves as a permanent hub for showcasing local crafts and traditions.
- Training and workshops: The project organised training sessions and practical workshops for both children and adults, ensuring the craft skills are passed down to new generations.
- International exhibition: An exhibition titled “Traditional Ceramics from Majdanpek” was held in Șișești, showcasing Serbian ceramic works and fostering cultural exchange.
- Published materials: The initiative resulted in the publication of materials such as an album and a brochure, which document and promote the region’s ceramic traditions.
