About the project:
The BRIDGE project was designed to increase the safety and security level for the population in the Romania-Ukraine cross-border area. It aimed to achieve this by improving the professional training and maintaining the intervention capacity of professional emergency services and structures responsible for interventions in mountainous environments. The project’s efforts focused on Satu Mare, Maramureș, Suceava, Botoșani, and Tulcea counties in Romania and the Chernivtsi and Ivano-Frankivsk regions in Ukraine.

KEY OBJECTIVES
- To increase the safety and security level of the population by improving the professional training and intervention capacity of emergency services.
- To enhance cross-border capacity to respond to emergency situations.
- To improve the operational capacity of institutions to respond to emergencies.

KEY RESULTS
- 15 joint actions in the field of emergency situations and the prevention of man-made disasters
- 200 professionals from Romania and Ukraine trained to respond in emergency situations.
- 6 institutions with improved/upgraded capacity to respond to emergencies.
- One common set of procedures and a common alert notification system.
- A joint action plan prepared
The BRIDGE project has a long-term benefit for over 4.3 million people living in the eligible cross-border area, making their communities safer and more secure.
